ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga
ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga has rebuked Kenyans for condemning blatant theft of Covid-19 money through dubious deals in KEMSA in a statement released Monday saying: “The so-called condemnations of theft could as well be part of the cover-up.”
The Former Prime Minister, in what appeared to be an attempt to ease the mounting pressure on the Government to bring to book those behind loss of Covid-19 money, appeared to defend those who have been linked with theft of Covid-19 Billions.
“As matters stand now, none of the people taking to the podium or social media to condemn theft of funds has any evidence,” said Raila. On Sunday, Raila’s former spokesman Tony Gachoka took to social media to name some of the perpetrators.
Mr. Gachoka linked Jubilee Party Leader David Murathe and Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth in the KEMSA Scandal. In recent days, both Murathe and Kenneth have been linked to Raila and even attended the 70th Birthday of Mama Ida on Saturday.
Rival politicians insist that Raila’s close associates Minority Whip Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay Women Rep. Gladys Wanga mastermindsed the KEMSA Scandal raising the question whether Raila’s statement was meant to protect his confidants.
