Kilifi North MP Calls for New Generation of Leaders to Save Coast Region

Kilifi North MP Hon Owen Baya

Kilifi North MP Hon Owen Baya has decried the need for a new generation of Coast Leaders who put the interests of the region and her people first ahead of their own needs and who are ready to change the political and economic status quo of the region in the best interest of the people.

In a social media post, the firebrand Hon Owen Baya urged Coast Leaders to be ready to divorce those he called “political husbands” if that is the right thing to do for the people. He noted:

“We are building a new generation of Coast Leaders both young and old with a progressive mindset that will be ready to change the political and economic landscape of the region for posterity and who are tough enough to call a divorce from those who call themselves our political husbands. The time is now and this is the moment.”

This comes days after the Kilifi North MP Owen Baya who has been advocating for a Coast regional new political outfit said sitting MPs, including those in Jubilee and other parties, have met several times to discuss the agenda.

The legislator, a close ally of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, said the party will be launched before the 2022 polls and will bring on board all other existing coastal political outfits.

“I can tell you without fear or a shadow of doubt that we are ready with a political party. It is just a matter of time … of when we can launch and start branding it,” he said.
